New Mexico Prep postgraduate
football program was created to give the student athletes of New Mexico
an opportunity to showcase their skills academically as well as on a
football field at the college prep level. New Mexico Prep is not a
college. Student athletes are required to attend Central New Mexico
Community College (CNM) located in Albuquerque, NM. Student athletes who are selected to
participate in New Mexico Prep football program are required to take
developmental courses, or be a part time student (part-time student meaning
any hours less than 12 credits) so they can establish a college classroom work
ethic and not use any of their college football elegibility in the process.
Student athletes must have a high school diploma or GED
to be considered for New Mexico Prep Post Graduate Football Program.
Student athletes who are not National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA) qualifiers, on completion of high school graduation, will be
tutored in how to successfully complete the ACT/SAT exam during study
hall sessions. Study hall sessions will take place Sunday through
Thursday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Professional licensed teachers,
counselors, and qualified tutors from the local university along with
the coaching staff of New Mexico Prep will administer study hall.
This process will
also assist the student athletes in becoming eligible through the NCAA
Clearinghouse. During the student athletes’ time at New Mexico Prep,
the student athlete will be tutored on how to conduct themselves in and
out of a college classroom setting, given complete instructions on how
to maximize their strengths, in a collegiate weight room facility, and
how to truly understand the game of football. One of New Mexico Prep’s
main objectives will be to continue the student athletes overall
education and playing career at a four year institution by the end of
the first semester. New Mexico Prep will not accept any student athlete past
the age of 21. |
